A good education is the best defense against mind control. Americans are largely mass conditioned now. Your education is up to you. Keep feeding and stretching your mind. Develop a stronger appetite for knowledge. Knowledge is not only power, it is its own reward.
Get a good dictionary. Phenomenal source of knowledge.
The American Heritage 4th edition is the best I’ve ever found.
Be inspired. Push for more and more knowledge.
Challenge yourself.
