The BNP will receive two seats. England is divided into nine regions where people voted on candidates. The BNP got about 9% of the vote in the five northernmost regions. In the four regions along the base of the country, the BNP only polled about 5%. It also polled 5% in wales. The BNP also gained new councilor seats in northern England as well, and it’s first ever county seat in northern England.
The UKIP came in second place ahead of two major parties and is expected to get at least 12 seats. UKIP is expected to form the core of the euroskeptic/conservative Europeans for a Europe of Nations grouping in the EU.
Results for Northern Ireland and Scotland are not in. Ireland has also not reported it’s results.
The British National Party has won its second seat in the European parliament with the election of party leader Nick Griffin as MEP for the North West region of England.
The BNP polled 132,094 votes in the North West region.
