Michael Jones is wanted on charges of attempted murder, attempted aggravated assault and violating an order of protection.

Police said Jones broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home in Columbia, assaulted her, stabbed her and tried to rape her. The two had stopped seeing each other several months ago.

“He started stabbing me once here, once here and four times on my legs,” said Kelly English, Jones’ ex-girlfriend. “He then continued to hit me, telling me that he loved me and look what I’ve done to him and his life.”

English had taken out a restraining order against him in March, which she said police told her to do. After the assault, English had two black eyes, a broken nose and cuts on her face and body.

“I went the way the police told me I should go,” English said. “I did everything they said I should do, and it didn’t help at all.”

The 31-year-old mother of two said she is so frightened now that she isn’t staying in Maury County.

“I think he would have killed me. He told me he was going to kill me,” she said.

English said friends in a church group told her they wanted her to meet Jones. She said she knew nothing about his past when she met him.

Police said Jones has a lengthy criminal record. Anyone who sees Jones or has information about his whereabouts should call Columbia police.

Police said he may be in a 1997 blue or silver Chevrolet Suburban with Alabama tags.
