The 11th May 2008, following a complaint from neighbors and numerous problems due to the behavior of their violent children and the lack of collaborative efforts to find a solution with the local authority, it was decided to cut her financial aid.
Explanation from Christian Gillet, vice-president of the local council in charge of social affairs: “We can no longer give huge financial help to people who are not willing to integrate in society, and continue to destructively degrade our social services. The town has given 199,993 Euros in financial aid for this familly comprising 12 members, to improve their living conditions, plus free meals. We tried everything, there is a real problem of integration, certainly due to the origin of their Roma heritage.
“We are entirely fed-up”, declared Jean-Francois Fribault, director of the shelter services of the town. “They left us with two housing completely destroyed, the social workers are completely tired”. Same feelings for the general authority: “Financially it is up to the state authorities to deal with this difficult case”.
