Corruption inside the European Union:
France’s President Sarkozy support Albania inside the EU, the poorest Muslim nation in Europe that committed genocide against Christian Serbs. Albania is known to be the most corrupted country in Europe, plagued by ethnic violence, and most of its citizens are only good to pray toward Mecca 5 times a day. Guess who is going to pay for them ?
President Sarkozy: “Albania will be a member of the European Union and France fully supports this idea”
Prime Minister Sali Berisha was granted an audience today by the President of France Nicolas Sarkozy at the Elysee Palace.
Welcoming Premier Berisha, President Sarkozy thanked him for accepting the invitation to visit the Elysee Palace and also congratulated him for Albania joining the North Atlantic Alliance. President Sarkozy also highlighted Albania participation in NATO and UN operations worldwide.
On his part, Premier Berisha considered the meeting with President Sarkozy an historic landmark in the bilateral relations.
President Sarkozy said that France will support efforts by Albania to join the European Union. “Albania will be a member of the European Union and France fully supports this idea”, said President Sarkozy adding that his country supports Albania application for candidate status to the European Union.
Premier Berisha thanked President Sarkozy for the crystal clear support for Albania EU integration and highlighted the fact that 96% of the Albanians back integration and the process will be constant and irreversible.
President Sarkozy said that Albania achievements are well-deserved success and no other country has suffered from that harsh dictatorship like Albania. France supports Albania development and modernization.
President Sarkozy also highlighted GoA support to French business. And he said that the government of France would work side by side with GoA and Albania will constantly enjoy the French assistance and support.
Premier Berisha also expressed gratitude to President Sarkozy for his support in person as well as of the French government and people for Albania NATO membership dream become a reality. Albania, said the premier, has been in need of security; hence NATO membership paves the way to Albania building its freedom and democracy while feeling safer. This is a new encouragement to deepen the reforms and I assure you, -said Premier Berisha- for the determination of the government of Albania to proceed on the same road.
To implement these two major projects and change the face of Albania, said the premier, we have undertaken major reforms, which were often hard, but that was the only way for the Albanians to have their NATO and EU integration dream become a reality. The premier said GoA would fight further against organized crime and corruption.
Premier Berisha acquainted President Sarkozy with the reforms implemented in economic field, and said he would be very grateful to President Sarkozy for stimulating the French investors coming to Albania. The premier expressed his satisfaction with several French companies operating successfully in Albania. Another important factor, said the premier, is that Albania is a very francophone country where French is a favorite language.
The investments of the French companies in Albania, with the support of the government of Albania, assured the premier, will mark success stories. We are a small country, – said the premier- but, of great potentials in energy, minerals, tourism and a country with among the most favorable labor force in Europe. We have implemented major economic reforms; we passed the law on public private partnership; in 3 to 4 years time we shall have a new infrastructure network, the inherited backward network taken into account, but above all, for my government education of the young people will always be a priority.
Speaking about June Parliamentary elections, Premier Berisha said that the government he heads will take all the proper measures of holding free and fair elections. An important step in this direction, – said the premier- is issuing of the new ID cards and biometric passports for the Albanian citizens.
President Sarkozy said he would visit the marvelous Albania, as he put it, in the near future and he expects to see from very close the changes made. Premier Berisha said he was very happy at the news. Thus, President Sarkozy would be the first French President visiting Albania, said the premier, and the Albanians hold him in high esteem and are grateful to him for the support given to Albania integration process.
