This little nation stood brave for centuries against the invading hordes of the East which sought to enslave the West. Romania stood against the Ottoman Empire (Turks), Golden Horde (Tatars) and even against USSR (Communist Russia) but even though it had “brave moments”, this country also had dark conspiring moments against its great leaders. Here’s some great Romanian leaders who were betrayed.
-Burebista was perhaps the first great “Romanian” and he ended up being assassinated. Romanian boyars were unhappy with his rule so they conspired against him;
-Vlad Tepes (Vlad The Impaler) or better known as the international super star “Dracula” was a great Wallachian Romanian “voievod” (king) who slaughtered many Turks by impaling them in stakes (thus earning the name Impaler and Dracula) and who fought against the Ottoman invasion of Europe was betrayed by his own brother Radu cel Frumos and by his ally Matei Corvin;
-Petru Rares (Moldavian king) was betrayed by boyars;
-Radu de la Afumati (Wallachian king) was assassinated by those who were supposed to actually protect him;
-Petru Rares (Moldavian king) lost his first rule because he was (of course) also betrayed by his boyars;
-Ioan Voda Viteazul (Moldavian king) was of course not endorsed by the boyars. So he was betrayed. First he was betrayed by his messenger who lied to him about the advancement of the Turks in Modavia and the 2nd time was betrayed by a part of boyars in the middle of the fight with the Turks. The boyars joined forces with the Turks and fought against Ioan Voda Viteazul;
-Petru Cercel (Wallachian king) had Western ideas and wanted to change Romania, so he spent a lot of money to do that and raised the taxes so he can afford to pay back his debt but the boyars did’t agree so they forced him to resign. So he did, but while he was on his way to Transylvania with his personal belongings, his “crew” stole everything he got. Petru ended up arrested for a while. When he was finally released, he tried to become a king again but someone named Mihnea who betrayed his own religion (Christianity) and converted to Islam (so he could get Turkish support), became the king instead of Petru;
-Mihai Viteazul (Michale The Brave) another great and precious Romanian voievod who made the first union between the three Romanian tiny kingdoms (Wallachia, Transylvania and Moldavia) has been betrayed by the Transylvanian boyars. Mihai wasn’t really betrayed by Romanians or at least not entirely but nevertheless, he was betrayed and assassinated by those who were supposed to be allies;
-Constantin Brancoveanu (Prince of Wallachia) was betrayed by his own relatives and he ended up being tortured and killed by the Turkish Empire;
-Horea, Closca si Crisan (Transylvanian Romanian revolutionaries) ended up being tortured and executed (one of them committed suicide before the execution). A bounty was placed on them so a couple of Romanian peasants helped the Austrian army to capture them;
-Tudor Vladimirescu was a Wallachian Romanian revolutionary hero who ended up betrayed of course by his ally Alexandru Ipsilanti;
-Corneliu Zelea Codreanu the founder of the most precious Romanian nationalist movement ever existed has been killed by a wretched playboy king named Carol II who spent his youth with a jewess
-Nicolae Iorga – although he along with king Carol II of Romania conspired to assassinate Corneliu Zelea Codreanu, he was a great patriot, historian and an important pillion in the Romanian culture. He should have been forgiven for his wretched act but Codreanu’s people (the legionnaires) sought to revenge so they shot him;
-Ion Antonescu (Marshall and “Leader” of Romania) one of the best patriots this country ever had, was brought to “trial” and executed like an animal;
-Romania betrayed Germany in the Second World War. It started as an ally of Germany and later when it saw that Germany was losing the war it quickly switched sides with the Communist-Capitalist alliance (USSR+US+UK);
-Nicolae Ceausescu although he was a communist, he was undoubtedly a great Romanian patriot who loved his country and tried his best to make it powerful, has also been brought to “trial” and killed like an animal right on Christmas Day (December 25th)… Merry Christmas Ceausescu with a dozen bullets in your head for loving your country. His wife was also executed;
-King Michael of Romania was forced to resign in 1946 when communism finally came down in 1989, he tried to come back to Romania so he can continue his rule but he was not even allowed to enter the country.
The list could go on forever because there were many betrayals in this country and probably there will always be unless they change.
Many mathematicians and geniuses were bought by the US, inventors were forced to leave Romania due to lack of recognition or respect that they had to endure while living in their own country. An example is the Romanian Henri Coanda who invented his Jet Airplane in France.
Shortly after the Iron Curtain fell in 1989, West Germany united with their Eastern German countrymen but Romanians didn’t care about their Eastern Romanian countrymen from Moldavia and they still don’t care. A union between Romania and Moldova is regarded as an “economical downfall” by most Romanians. Another “betrayal”…
This story is NOT anti-Romania or something. On the contrary, some things just have to be pointed out in order for a change to happen.
Romania Awake! It’s time for you to learn the meaning of Honor!

“Mihai Viteazul (Michale The Brave) another great and precious Romanian voievod who made the first union between the three Romanian tiny kingdoms (Wallachia, Transylvania and Moldavia)” :-D :-D :-D
Transylvania at that time was a hungarian state, and not a romanian one. voivod Mihai just occupied it for some months after the order of the austrian emperor…
“Michael the Brave was killed by hungarians” :-D :-D :-D
Voivod Mihai was killed by the austrian general Giogio Basta and his wallonian mercenaries.
Mihai Viteazul and Vlad Tepes were killed by Hungarians.
Ceausescu was a patriot but a patriot with not vision. Also, you should know that his sons live a life in decay.
Romanians did not forget about Moldavia, how can you say that?
( romanism.net ) Unfortunately most Moldavians are rusophils so it’s a hard struggle to convince most of them to fight for unification.
I totally agree on Ceausescu, but for what I know, Michael the Brave was killed by his right-hand general (a hungarian) under orders from Budapest or Vienna, not sure.
And Antonescu was a great patriot, but the alliance with Germany was a mistake and Germany never acted as a friend to Romania at the time, even worst, Germany was decisive in forcing Romania give up on Northern Transylvania, Sout Dobrudja, Bessarabia and Bukovina, so there was never a “betrayal against Germany”, cuz betrayal would involve being friends in the first place. Think about it.
DUDE!,how can you say such a thing, Michael the Brave was killed by hungarians, not betrayed,Antonescu was in a status of friendship with Hitler, but after Antonesc beeing killed by king carol, the alliance with the axis felt and romania turned guns against germany,joining the communist pact in the hope to not loose to many troops.Big mistake for Marshal Antonescu, he knew that entering that meeting he will be arrested and sentenced to death for “betrayel” against hes country,and still, he went there without taking any measures…idk, put the artilery to take down the building if he dosent come out in 30 minutes or soemthing like that ;)
