Does this team really represent France is the question. How many people are really French in this team? Did you know that not even the famous super star Zinedine Zidane is not French? Nobody is saying that the team is inefficient because it is, or at least it was in 1998 when it won the world cup at FIFA 98. The team doesn’t perform as good as it used to but that’s not the point. Even if it was the best team in the world, it still doesn’t represent France because it’s not made of Frenchmen but it’s made of people bought from other countries.
Yes, everybody is doing it today. Every team buys players from other countries but not at the rate of France where there’s almost no French left in their national team.
Spanish football supporters for example, made fun of the French team at one occasion. French coach Raymond Domenech said: “When I arrived with the bus there were Spanish fans making monkey chants towards my team.”
So the Spanish supporters see the French team as non-French, but about France? How do they really regard their own team?
