A Syrian national was arrested on Tuesday evening in the German city of Nuremberg for attacking several police officers with a broken glass bottle outside the city’s main train station while repeatedly shouting “Allahu akbar.”
Police were dispatched to Nuremberg Central Station shortly before 6:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a man harassing members of the public while in possession of a broken bottle.
Investigators revealed that the 28-year-old Syrian migrant suddenly ran towards the officers when they arrived at the scene, and despite orders to stop, he continued to provoke officers and point the bottle in their direction before carrying out the attack.
The suspect was arrested and blood tests were ordered to check whether he was intoxicated, although police accounts from the time report they did not believe him to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to Bild.
