Amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitriy Peskov has disclosed that Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed a willingness to engage in negotiations to bring an end to the war. This revelation came during a meeting with İbrahim Kalın, the Presidential Spokesperson of Turkey, in Moscow. Peskov conveyed that Putin acknowledged Russia’s openness to discussions on Ukraine and emphasized the desire to reach a resolution, recognizing the severe toll the conflict has taken, with thousands dead and millions displaced.
Reportedly, Putin conveyed a message of seeking an end to hostilities, stating, “We do not want war forever, we will not run away from negotiations.” The key condition put forth by Putin is that the negotiations should involve the USA and the broader Western nations, with a particular emphasis on involving Germany in the talks, as reported by Hurriyet.
Putin underscored that while Russia is ready for talks, the West must consider Russia’s conditions in the negotiation process. The details of these conditions were not explicitly outlined in the initial statements.
Simultaneously, Chinese leader Xi Jinping, responding to an appeal from French President Emmanuel Macron, called for peace talks over the Ukraine conflict. However, Xi did not indicate that China would use its diplomatic partnership with Russia to press for a settlement. During a joint event with Macron, Xi reiterated the importance of resuming peace talks as soon as possible, underscoring the need to consider the legitimate security concerns of all parties involved.
China, while maintaining a facade of neutrality in the conflict, has consistently provided diplomatic support to Russia, presenting a united front against what it perceives as U.S. domination of global affairs. Xi’s recent joint appearance with Putin in Moscow and the reaffirmation of support indicate the ongoing alignment between the two nations.
Macron, during his talks with Xi, urged China to leverage its influence to “bring Russia to its senses” and encourage a return to the negotiating table. He highlighted the violation of international agreements by Russia’s plans to deploy nuclear weapons in Belarus, a move that drew criticism for breaching commitments made to China.
As the diplomatic landscape evolves, with Putin expressing openness to negotiations and Xi responding to international appeals for peace talks, the global community watches closely, hoping for progress towards a lasting resolution to the conflict in Ukraine. Macron’s efforts to garner support and emphasize the significance of peace were underscored by the presence of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during his visit to Beijing, showcasing a unified European stance.

Yeah. Remember the Petrodollar was why Ghadaffi and Hussein were killed. The African Gold Dinar. They dared to oppose the West and try to sell their own sovereign oil in their own currency for their own price. The West doesn’t like that. Ask Iran how they got to be in the mess they are today (1953 Coup that overthrew a democratically-elected government in Iran, setting the scene for the 1979 Islamic Revolution after the Shah’s dictatorship).
The sheer gall of Western media to complain about Iranian women’s rights, when they are the ones who stole them, in effect! Just so Western women don’t have to pay the going rate for oil. Which OK, is a valid logic, if not ethical. But why lie about it? Is all about asshole Western women not wanting to admit the nasty things done in their name – or their Government acting like it is expected to be like this.
