The government in Italy intends to tighten legislation to tackle illegal immigration. A decision that can greatly affect immigration to Sweden. Among other things, human traffickers must be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni visited the city, where she held a press conference on the government’s new measures against human smuggling across the Mediterranean.
– If anyone thinks that the tragedy of February 26 has discouraged the government from pursuing its migration policy, they are unfortunately wrong. We are moving forward on the path we have taken, proving that we are pursuing a responsible policy and breaking the slavery activities carried out by the criminal organizations of people smugglers, Meloni said, according to Magyar Hirlap.
According to the government, people smugglers who transported illegal immigrants should be sentenced to between 5 and 16 years in prison and fined 15,000 euros for each migrant. If migrants suffer bodily harm by sea or land, the smugglers face between 10 and 20 years in prison, and if the smugglers cause the death of a person, they face a sentence of between 15 and 20 years. If more than one migrant dies at the same time, the penalty rises to between 20 and 30 years in prison.
The legislative package also tightens the rules in other areas to reduce immigration, including so-called labor immigration.
