Election victories in the provinces of Rome and Milan went to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and her three-party coalition.

The Lombardy and Lazio area of northern Italy, a regional economic powerhouse and the location of Rome, began accepting votes for regional elections on Sunday.

Meloni stated on Twitter that the outcome “solidifies the center-right and boosts the work of the administration.”

When most votes had been tallied, the coalition consisting of Brothers of Italy, the League, and Forza Italia had garnered more than 55% of the vote in Lombardy and almost 48% in Lazio.

Only 40% of eligible voters cast ballots, which was the lowest turnout in Lazio and Lombardy history.

Italy had hurried parliamentary elections on September 25. Meloni’s Brothers of Italy, Matteo Salvini’s Lega Nord, and Silvio Berlusconi’s Forza Italia triumphed in a resounding victory. With 26% of the vote, Meloni’s party took over as the dominant political force in the nation.

On October 22, in the presence of Italian President Sergio Mattarella, the new Italian government, headed by Meloni, the leader of the right-wing Brothers of Italy party, was sworn in. The ceremony took place in Rome’s Quirinal Palace.
