The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are accused by Nelson Mandela’s granddaughter of taking advantage of her grandfather’s legacy.
By collaborating with the Nelson Mandela Foundation to produce the Netflix series “Live to Lead,” Nikola Mandela, 57, said that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are “using” the late South African president’s name for their own self-promotion. The program premiered on the streaming platform on December 31 and includes well-known tales of leadership from all across the world.
She said that the royals were equating their battles to South Africa’s apartheid regime and themselves to her famous grandpa. Mandela told The Australian, “That’s chalk and cheese, there is no similarity.” “I know the Nelson Mandela Foundation has sponsored the campaign, but individuals have been misusing my grandfather’s legacy for years because they know his name sells—Harry and Meghan are no different from them,” I said.
According to the site, the granddaughter acknowledged that she respects Prince Harry’s courage in leaving the royal family. But it has a cost; you then have to provide for yourself, she said. Even though I’ve come to terms with it, it’s still really frustrating and heartbreaking every time it happens.
Inquiries about Nikola Mandela’s involvement in the TV show’s development or the foundation itself were not immediately answered by the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
