The alleged perpetrator of the fatal knife attack on a train near Brokstedt in Schleswig-Holstein was shortly before the incident on Wednesday at the immigration office in Kiel. The 33-year-old had applied for a residence permit, Schleswig-Holstein Interior Minister Sabine Sütterlin-Waack (CDU) told a special session of the state parliament on Thursday. From there it was sent to the registry office.
The Minister of Justice confirms that two young people were killed, a 16 year old and a 19 year old who knew each other. She does not want to give more details out of respect for the relatives. The alleged perpetrator was slightly injured – travelers threw suitcases at him – but there were still no results from the interview. He is due before the magistrate today. Was the attacker mentally confused after the attack? ” I think he wasn’t completely normal, at least at the time of the attack. A terrorist past would not be excluded. But there is currently no indication of this.
His knowledge of German should not be perfect, an interpreter was needed for the first interrogation.
In view of the information on the criminal record of the alleged perpetrator, Peine, a member of the CDU, wonders if Germany has not been too lax with him.
The knife killer is a stateless person from the Gaza Strip (Palestinian territory). Ibrahim A. came to Germany as a refugee in 2014 and since 2015 has come into contact with German law twelve times.
According to information from FOCUS-online, this is already the third time that the stateless Palestinian has attacked other people with the knife.
In Bad Münstereifel, for example, Ibrahim A. was registered in 2016. According to the public prosecutor’s office in Bonn, he hit a man several times and struck him in the face with a knife. The district court sentenced the defendant to one year probation. More recently, he spent months in detention in Hamburg.
According to a justice spokeswoman, the Palestinian allegedly attacked people in Hamburg in January 2022 in two cases. On the one hand in a center for the homeless and on the other hand near a drug help. The first act happened on January 18, 2022 in the queue outside a distribution of food for the homeless. Ibrahim A. argued with a man, he punched and stabbed the opponent several times. The victim was seriously injured. At the time, A. claimed that he had previously used large amounts of cocaine, heroin and alcohol.
