After experiencing a heart arrest on the morning of January 12, Lisa Marie Presley passed away at the age of 54. After the tragedy, she had been placed in an induced coma.
Priscilla, Lisa Marie’s mother, confirmed the passing in a statement to the People weekly magazine.
The announcement begins, “It is with a sad heart that I must relay the tragic news that my lovely daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most fervent, powerful, and loving woman I’ve ever met.
“As we struggle to come to terms with this tragic loss, we beg for privacy. Thank you for your prayers and kindness. There won’t be any other comments at this time, her mother stated.
According to earlier accounts, her housekeeper discovered her unconscious in her bedroom at her Calabasas, California, residence as her ex-husband Danny Keough, with whom she lives, was returning home after dropping her kids off at school.
Keough performed CPR on his ex-wife prior to the arrival of the paramedics. Presley reportedly experienced severe stomach problems that morning that grew worse, according to those close to her. It was emphasized by sources to TMZ that this was not an attempt at suicide.
The event happened just two days after Presley, her mother Priscilla Presley, and Austin Butler—who portrayed her father in the Baz Luhrmann film “Elvis”—attended the 2023 Golden Globes. In 1968, Lisa Marie Presley was born to Elvis and Priscilla Presley. She was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, where her parents later divorced. Later, the future American singer-songwriter would go to Los Angeles, California, with her mother and visit Elvis Presley’s Graceland mansion in Memphis. The renowned couple’s lone child, she was.
