As it continues to lose the conflict in Ukraine, Russia has again threatened to deploy nuclear weapons.
According to a senior NATO official, several partners, and maybe NATO itself, would “very probably be responding physically” to a nuclear strike by Russia.
The diplomat, who wished to remain unnamed, claimed that Moscow seems to be primarily using its nuclear threats to dissuade NATO and other nations from directly assisting in its continuing invasion of Ukraine.
Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, recently threatened to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine if other nations interfered.
Jake Sullivan, the national security adviser for the US, stated last month that the US has made it plain to the Kremlin that using nuclear weapons would have “catastrophic implications” for Russia.
