According to Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, Russian tourists traveling to the EU present a security concern given the situation in Ukraine.
Early this month, Estonia barred Russian visitors from entering the country. Since then, Estonia has pushed for restrictions on Russian tourists to be imposed across the whole EU as part of sanctions against Moscow for its military operation in Ukraine.
“Really, we are carrying the strain. The issue is that we cannot inspect each and every visitor. And we see that they are a security risk,” Kallas said on Wednesday to Sky News.
He said that “a visa restriction may have an effect such that conflict would stop,” and that “ordinary Russians are also responsible for their country’s acts.”
“Of Russian citizens, hardly 10% actually go overseas. The prime minister stated that since they are from Moscow and St. Petersburg, they “have influence on Kremlin choices as well,” and that Russians impacted by the ban “would put pressure on the Kremlin.”
Meanwhile, a few EU nations, like Germany and Hungary, are opposed to a total visa ban for now. The senior diplomat for the EU, Josep Borrell, stated on Monday that those Russians who disagree with the Kremlin’s stance should not have their doors shut.

Good decision. The problem is, also the Russian terrorist agents and sleeper cells are using tourist visas to get in. In Romania, some of these infiltrators just recently murdered soldiers using poison. They were let in the country with tourist visas.
