Rising Technology Trends in the Oil and Gas Industry

A vast number of nations depend heavily on petroleum and natural gas to run their country. With the never-ending demand in this sector, it is now even more important to address the issues of global warming and pollution related to it.

Every year due to oil spills a large number of natural habitats and various wildlife are affected. There is a very less concrete solution on how to avoid it. Another major problem lies with natural gas leakage. In research conducted in Europe, it was found that after building any kind of pipeline may it be for Natural Gas or related petroleum most companies face a crisis with managing them.

There are remote sites established near the pipeline where the job of the technician is to check and maintain the flow of the pipes. Often some places are very hard to reach out to from the mainland.

A growing country like India itself which is in transition form faces a similar kind of challenge. In research done by PNGRB Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board, around 55000 more manpower will be required in the future for the maintenance of gas and petroleum pipelines across the country.

With the growing need for infrastructure and development across various parts of the globe, it’s more important now to have better technology to support the growth. We can say that the need of the hour is to develop new remote monitoring technology so that even with less manpower more efficient results are achieved.

Taking the focus on a college campus which is now in need of a system that can help them monitor the use of Electric Car chargers in their parking lot by their students. A unique problem is needed to be solved by the campus authorities. It is very hard for them to manage these charging ports individually.

The problem lies in the very idea of making the campus environment friendly with the installation of electric car chargers across the campus. Every individual wants to benefit from the facility provided on the campus, on the other hand, the campus does not want people to misuse them.

The solution to the problem is in understanding the fact that both of them require remote access along with well-designed architecture to communicate to and from these devices.

Giving these devices’ real-time data and information to the server or the person in charge of managing them. ‘Withthegrid’ a Dutch-based technology company has been researching similar kinds of problems and has developed a device and system that brings hardware completely online. They call it the Smart Grid Teleport system.

According to the company with their SaaS-based system in place, you can not only monitor your assets but you can bring them online and remotely access them. The data received from these devices can further be used to analyze the report and its health. The real-time management system helps in close monitoring of batteries, chargers, oil pumps, etc.

Withthegrid along its investor Boundary Holding, from Luxembourg headed by Rajat Khare, has given a solution to both the industry of oil and natural gas management as well as to the college authority to keep a check on Electric car charging stations. There is no doubt that our future depends on AI and deep tech, and we are looking towards the 4th Industrial revolution with these technological advancements.

Many new homes in England would be required to have a mandatory electric car charger. The public accessible car chargers have grown sevenfold from the year 2020 as compared to 2021. Even the electric car sales jumped to 140% in the year 2021 as compared to the previous one. We can clearly see there is a huge demand in the market. There is a new sector coming up where a better solution and system are required to maintain these devices.
