Paris Porte de Clignancourt Police

Several police officers were attacked near Porte de Clignancourt, in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, according to the French media as reported on Tuesday May 3. Three individuals in an irregular situation were taken into custody on Monday, May 2, at the end of the afternoon, after having violently attacked a police patrol. A policewoman injured in the face was issued with three days of temporary incapacity for work (ITT).

The facts occurred around 4 p.m., rue du Lieutenant-Colonel Dax, close to the Saint-Ouen flea market (Seine-Saint-Denis). While on patrol, the police noticed that fires had been lit under a bridge occupied by migrants for almost a month. They immediately asked those present to put out the fires to prevent them from spreading to nearby tents. But the latter refused, throwing various projectiles in the direction of the agents. A violent altercation ensued during which a policewoman received several blows to the face. Captured by passers-by, the scene was quickly broadcast on social networks.

Called in as reinforcements, staff from the Territorial Security Brigade (BST) and the Saint-Ouen Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC) arrested three individuals who were all placed in police custody at the Saint-Ouen police station. Yeah. Adults and without papers, the latter must be referred in the evening for their indictment. The injured policewoman was given three days of ITT.

“Wearing the uniform no longer inspires respect, it’s even quite the opposite. Today we face thugs who no longer have any limits. Most of the time these are individuals who we know very well for having arrested them countless times and who do not care about the authority , ” says indignant Matthieu Valet, the spokesperson for the Independent Union of Commissioners. police (SICP). The trade unionist is campaigning in particular for the establishment of minimum sentences so that “each conviction is subject to a short sentence, even a few days” .
