A pair of teenagers was brutally beaten by a large mob of very young suspects over a ‘sideways glance’ in France this week, according to reports.
The disturbing incident unfolded at around 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the Arsenal Concert Hall in Metz, a city in the department of Moselle in northeastern France.
A pair of 16-year-olds was skateboarding around the steps of the Arsenal when they were confronted by two suspects around the ages of 12 or 13.
The tweens were physically aggressive, outraged over a perceived ‘bad look’ they had received, Le Républicain Lorrain reports.
The victims repelled an attack and the tweens left the area, only to return shortly afterwards with a group of around 15 friends.
The gang set up the teen skaters, viciously assaulting them and witnesses who attempted to intervene.
At one point, a knife was held to the throat of one of the victims.
Police eventually arrived and the suspects fled the scene.
One of the victims was treated on the spot, but the other was rushed to hospital suffering from head trauma, hematoma and contusion, and facial injuries.
An investigation has been opened and the families of the victims have filed formal complaints.
