In a frank admission that the ‘conspiracy theorists’ were correct, NZ Prime Minster Jacinta Ardern has finally come out and said what everyone who was paying attention already knew; there will be no endpoint to the vaccination program.
In stark contrast to the message given at the start of the pandemic, that everyone simply had to get two shots and things would go “back to normal”, Ardern said on Monday in an interview with Mihingarangi Forbes of New Zealand’s “The Hui,” that there will be “no endpoint” to the country’s vaccination program.
“There’s been a huge focus on making sure we’re reaching everyone, wherever they are in the country and ensuring that we’re overcoming those barriers. But in my mind so long as there are people that are eligible that haven’t been vaccinated, we’ve got work to do.
There’s not going to be and endpoint to the vaccination program.”
Ardern continued.

“I don’t think I will be satisfied as long as there is someone who has choose [not to be vaccinated].”
However, she quickly corrected herself, replacing ‘choose’ with:
“You know who – whose eligible and hasn’t been [vaccinated].”
Implying that vaccination was inevitable and further reinforcing the lack of choice, however, she did not address what would happen to those who continue to ‘choose’ a choice that the government does not want.
Ardern also acknowledged that the vaccine immunity fades over time, saying that the boosters “brings your immunity back up to where it was when you were first vaccinated.” This also implies that boosters will now be a regular feature for New Zealand citizens.
The prime minister also made reference to “new health measures” that she was planning to implement, to which Forbes replied:
“I guess you couldn’t have asked for a better pilot project than this forced COVID rollout plan.”
Ardern later dodged a question by the interviewer about whether people who were vaccinated were totally safe, no doubt referencing the fact that the vaccines do not stop transmission of the virus, merely replying that they were doing everything they could through contact tracing and vaccination.
