A wild altercation between rival factions unfolded in broad daylight on Saturday in the suburbs of Paris, France, according to reports.

Around twenty combatants attacked each other with projectiles and sticks in the commune of Noisy-le-Sec. One suspect was reportedly armed with a tear gas canister.

Men can be seen throwing objects, including construction materials, at each other and multiple vehicles before some of the fighters pile in and speed away.

The massive brawl may have unfolded in retaliation after a man was shot in the back the day before.

“It could be a ‘return fight’ following the serious gunshot wound of a young man, coming from the 140 district, this Friday afternoon in this same commune,” Actu 17 reports.

“This time, young people from this same neighborhood decided to attack other individuals, who may come from the Londeau neighborhood, according to our information.”

The scene has become a familiar one as ‘urban violence’ escalates in the banlieues across France.

French military officers have now published two open letters to the Macron government in recent weeks, warning the country is on the verge of civil war amid a spread of Islamism and social unrest fueled by mass migration.

“Afghanistan, Mali, the Central African Republic or elsewhere, a number of us have experienced enemy fire. Some have left comrades there. They offered their skin to destroy the Islamism to which you are making concessions on our soil,” the soldiers warn in their latest letter, which has been signed by over 163,000 members of the public at the time of this writing.

“Yes, if a civil war breaks out, the army will maintain order on its own soil, because it will be asked to. It is even the definition of civil war. No one can want such a terrible situation, our elders no more than us, but yes, again, civil war is brewing in France and you know it perfectly well.”

Polling conducted after French generals published their first letter of warning indicated 58 percent of respondents supported the words of the military officials.
