It started from the very beginning when they refused to acknowledge the Christian heritage of Europe in the preamble to their constitution! .Ethics and morality have given way to abject utilitarianism (human beings are merely economic units subject to cost/benefit analysis) and situational ethics (no principles even of good and evil: every atrocity can be justified “in the circumstances”).
