New polls have revealed that over three-quarters of Greek citizens back the conservative government’s decision to block hordes of migrant invaders from entering Greece.
The poll, carried out by the opinion research firm Pulse, discovered that only 18 percent of the Greek public believe that the actions being taken by the authorities to prevent thousands upon thousands of migrants from illegally entering the country were wrong, Greek newspaper Proto Thema reports.
Eight in ten Greek citizens expressed positive feelings about their government’s decision to seal off the border in order to thwart Turkish regime leader Erdogan’s attempts to blackmail Europeans via the exploitation of migrants and refugees.
The poll’s figures also revealed that 84 percent of Greeks felt very concerned about Turkey’s attitude and recent developments along the border between the two countries.
Survey respondents were also concerned about the spread of coronavirus in their country, which so far has 45 confirmed cases. 42 percent of those who were surveyed said that they were concerned about a major outbreak of the virus happening in Greece.
According to the polling agency Europe Elects, Greece’s ruling New Democracy (ND) party, by far, remains the country’s most popular political party with 43.6 percent of the vote.
Stelios Petsas, a spokesman for the Greek government has denounced recent allegations made by the Turkish regime as utter “fake news”, saying: “Video showing fatality on Greek-Turkish border is fake news. We call upon everyone to use caution when reporting news that furthers Turkish propaganda.”
On Friday, Voice of Europe ran a video presented by Mr. Petsas on social media which, among other things, accused the Turkish regime of offering migrants free rides, accompanying them to the border, and giving them tear gas to use against Greek border guards.
The video also shows that the Erdogan regime has released foreign criminals – many from Afghanistan and other Middle Eastern countries – from Turkish prisons and has sent them to the Greek-Turkish border area.
Earlier on Saturday, Voice of Europe shared a video clip that was released by the Hellenic Coast Guard which depicts a Turkish Coast Guard vessel aggressively harassing the Greek Coast Guard boat.
