French President Emmanuel Macron more Unpopular than Ever according to New Poll

A new survey has revealed that French President Emmanuel Macron’s confidence rating is the lowest it’s ever been.

The poll, carried out by French daily newspaper Le Figaro with pollster Kantar-One Point, showed that the French people’s confidence in their Head of State continues to decline. Since last September, Macron has lost 8 points on his score, stooping to just 24 percent.

If things continue to head in this direction for Macron, it’s possible that he could reach or surpass the lowest ever recorded confidence rating by a French president, namely that of his predecessor Francois Hollande, who currently holds the title of France’s most unpopular president ever.

In 2017, President Hollande completed his premiership with a confidence rating of just 22 percent.

According to Le Figaro, one of the main factors contributing to Macron’s dismal score is the departure of many of those on the right who had sympathized with him up until recently. In addition to this, Macron’s reforms to France’s pension system have contributed to a widespread feeling of anxiety throughout the country.

Late last month, an Elabe poll revealed that more than six out of ten French people (61%) think that French President Emmanuel Macron should take into account the protests against the pension reform and withdraw it, an opinion up by four points in just a month.
