According to a new report, during the first half of 2019, the EU saw a ten percent increase in the number of asylum claims.
The European Asylum Support Office (EASO), the EU’s asylum agency, reported that from January 1st to the end of June, 305,000 migrants applied for asylum in the bloc. This marks a ten percent increase from the same period in 2018, Die Welt reports.
According to data from Eurostat, the number of asylum applications peaked in 2015 with 1,257,000. Each year since, the number of asylum applications in the European Union have steadily fallen. However, it’s looking like that may not be the case much longer.
The numbers of asylum applications today are substantially higher than those recorded ten years ago in 2009 when Eurostat recorded just 196,000 applications for the whole year.
These numbers, however, fail to provide a full picture of just how many illegal migrants are entering the bloc since many do not even bother to apply for asylum. About half of migrants who claim to be unaccompanied minors never apply for asylum. Many of these so-called ‘minors’ are actually adults, recent reports have revealed.
The percentage of legitimate asylum seekers is quite low. In Germany, only about 30 to 50 percent of those applying for asylum are rightfully entitled to it.
But despite the German government rejecting most asylum seekers’ applications, the state still permits vast numbers of fake asylum seekers to stay in the country. As things stand now, it’s next to impossible for the country to deport migrants who don’t have the proper paperwork and who say they face physical danger in their homelands.
In short, the EU’s asylum system is incredibly easy to game, and the migrants know exactly how to game it, so gaming it – they are. Meanwhile, the workers of Europe continue to pay the price. Workers pay for it out of their paychecks, pensioners pay for it out of their benefits, and parents pay for it with the sexual assaults of their daughters. And, there’s no end in sight.
Germany’s interior minister Horst Seehofer, in 2017 said that an estimated 250,000 or so illegal migrants would be impossible to deport. Seehofer, since becoming interior minister in 2018, has pledged to do more to hasten the deportation of failed asylum seekers and illegal migrants.
Relentless migrant transport NGOs like Doctors Without Borders, Proactiva, and SOS Méditerranée have all resumed their operations in the Mediterranean, mainly off the coast of Libya.
In the last week alone the NGOs have picked up hundreds of migrants, and now they’re looking to dump them in Europe, and after they do they’ll head back out and repeat the same process again and again.
As this scene develops, German youths have voiced their concerns about The Single Most Important Thing Ever facing the future survival of their nation.
Their 1.4 birth rate?
No, not that. That would be racist.
They’re worried about the weather.
Gotta keep that weather from changing reported Politico:
Environmental and climate protection is the most important societal issue for Germans aged 14 to 22, according to a preliminary study by the German environment ministry released today.
Around a quarter of respondents said they’d already participated in Fridays for Future climate demonstrations, and 90 percent said they’d continue their engagement; nearly 50 percent of those who’ve never participated could imagine joining in the future.
