To celebrate six months in power Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini holds an ‘Italians first’ rally in Rome. Around the same time Paris was on fire as thousands of protesters want Macron to leave office.

In his speech to 80,000 supporters, the Deputy Prime Minister and populist said in regards to the neighbouring “Yellow Vests” protests: “Those who sow poverty reap protests, those who sow false promises reap the response of those on the margins and the countryside”.

His statement was met with cheers from the crowd of Italians who have seen his government keep promise after promise to the Italian people.

The League leader promised to continue to put “Italians first”, which the coalition government has had a successful first six months achieving. Supporters in attendance waved flags which bore the “Italians first” slogan, according to Agence France-Presse.

He told the crowd, in regards to the impending disciplinary proceedings from the European Commission over the proposed budget: ”We are afraid of nothing and nobody”.

Salvini explained that the current coalition between Lega and M5S government would be for five years. At the end of his speech, the Interior Minister told the massive crowd that: “United we will win”.
