After a short introduction, in which the TV4 host announced that “we should remember why we celebrate Christmas”, the spectacle began.
Joseph assumed that Mary had been with someone else, but she denied it. He claimed that “someone else had played dick-daddy and emptied the sack”.
After Mary gave birth to her child, the three wise men appeared with their gifts, which they discussed under constant cursing.
Joseph asked again who is the father of Mary’s child, while urging everyone to swear that they had not slept with her.
During the interrogation, he wondered who had “parked the locomotive in the degreasing room”?
On social media, viewers reacted to the profane sketch:
“What gives you the right to offend us Christians?” a viewer wondered. “Am insanely tired of all the profanities that hail”, wrote another. Yet another wondered if TV4 will air a ridiculing parody of Islam during Ramadan.
The executive producer at TV4 says he regrets that it “turned out the way it did”. The host defends the sketch with: “Shouldn’t we be allowed to joke about a nativity play? Please.”
Neither of them commented on whether or not the channel plan to dishonour other religions in the future.
