Matteo Salvini’s popularity isn’t going anywhere as a new poll shows that the Italian public view him as the country’s true leader.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Italy is shown by a survey in La Repubblica that 58 per cent consider him Italy’s leader, with only 14 per cent for fellow Deputy Prime Minister Luigi De Maio of the 5 Star Movement and Italy’s Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte only receiving 16 per cent. Conte has no political party affiliation.

His popularity is far reaching, as Nigel Farage has publicly supported Matteo saying: he “Must not give in to the gangsters in Brussels”.

The coalition government of Salvini’s Lega Party and the 5 Star Movement are extremely popular with recent polls showing that over 60% support them. As well, only 44 per cent of Italians now want to remain in the EU.
