German police are on a manhunt for a Muslim Iranian ‘refugee’ suspected in the murder of a woman in Dusseldorf this week.

Authorities are seeking Ali Akbar Shahghaleh, who has been identified as the possible killer of Anna S., a 36-year-old woman who was stabbed to death on her doorstep, according to German media.

“A witness at the scene identified Shahghaleh, an employee at a nearby kiosk, as the perpetrator. A special task force stormed his apartment, but did not find him,” Bild reports.

Neighbors say Anna S. had been in fear of the man, who reportedly worked at a kiosk near her residence, and additional accounts indicate he may have been stalking her for some time.

“According to an eyewitness, the perpetrator pursued the woman from the intersection of Friedrichstrasse and Bachstraße ‘with a knife.’ He is said to have struck the woman first with his fist on her head. The woman was then thrown, lying prone on the floor. Lying on the ground, he then butchered his victim,” reports PI News, which also notes this is the sixth knife attack in Dusseldorf in recent weeks.

Witnesses say they attempted to help the victim, but were threatened by her killer, who brandished his knife at them.

Ali Akbar Shahghaleh has lived in Germany since 2001, obtaining ‘refugee’ status in 2010, according to officials, who also say he suffered from a “50 percent mental disability.”
