It is not a secret that at least 80% of Sweden’s child migrants are actually adults. But a Facebook discussion about the topic cost the senior head of Swedish railways (SJ) his job, Fria Tider reports.
Earlier this year, the Swedish parliament decided to give 9,000 unaccompanied Afghan migrant ‘children’ residence permits.
The senior manager, who didn’t agree with that decision, replied on a political leader’s facebook post. He suggested that the group are not children and that the billions that are paid for their protection could be better spent elsewhere.
His remarks caused a backlash and a disciplinary meeting regarding it was of no help. His remarks were spread throughout his workplace and in the end, he chose to resign from his job at SJ, as it was the least damaging option.
According to the Summary, Monica Berglund, Deputy Communications Director for SJ, confirmed that it is “impossible” to have such values and continue working for SJ.
According to her, the company is characterised by a “human” value base which is incompatible with what the man wrote.
