Anyone who knows their Bible knows that Jesus’ crucifixion was not the end of the story.
And now it’s reported that Jim Caviezel is set to reprise the role of Jesus in a sequel to Mel Gibson’s blockbuster The Passion Of The Christ.
Citing ICM Partners, which represents Caviezel, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Tuesday that the actor is in negotiations with Gibson, who is likely set to produce and direct again.
The Passion Of The Christ was released in 2004 and grossed $612 million worldwide.
The film cost $30 million to make, was shot in Italy and the dialogue was in Aramaic, Herbew and Latin.
The R-rated movie also courted controversy with its graphic violence and alleged antisemitic undertones.

Caviezel, 49, is a devout Roman Catholic who is anti-abortion and who famously refused to do love scenes with a naked Jennifer Lopez in the film Angel Eyes.
According to THR.com, screen writer Randall Wallace, who wrote Gibson’s Oscar-winning Braveheart, had been working on a screenplay for The Passion Of The Christ: Resurrection.
Wallace told the trade publication in 2016 that his script was for ‘a huge and sacred subject’ and five months later Gibson revealed the name of the sequel during an interview on CBS’ The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, THR.com reported.
Meanwhile, Caviezel will star in the faith film Paul, Apostle of Christ slated for release in March, in time for the Easter weekend.
