In Marseille, a city in southern France, a tragic incident unfolded when a white van, believed to be stolen, crashed into two bus shelters, resulting in the death of one person and injuring another. The first collision occurred at 8:15 am in the Red Cross neighborhood, 13th arrondissement, claiming a life. An hour later, at 9 am, another bus shelter was struck on Avenue des Peintres-Roux in the 11th arrondissement, injuring a woman.

The driver, identified as a French national not residing in Marseille but known to authorities, was subsequently apprehended on Boulevard Charles Livon in the Old Port area, approximately eight miles west of the initial crash.

These incidents transpired amidst the ongoing search for Younes Abouyaaqoub, suspected to be the driver in the Barcelona van attack that claimed 13 lives. Spanish authorities, fearing his escape to France, continue their efforts to locate him.

The motives behind the Marseille crashes remain unclear, and ISIS supporters have already expressed praise for the incident. France, remaining on high alert due to previous terror attacks, has witnessed instances where vehicles were employed to cause harm, such as the tragic events in Nice on Bastille Day last year.

Recent events also include a deliberate act of terror outside a Paris barracks, injuring six counter-terror soldiers, and the intentional ramming of a 13-year-old girl at a pizzeria in Sept-Sorts, east of Paris. Furthermore, a concerning discovery in Paris revealed an arsenal of rocket launchers, automatic rifles, explosives, ammunition, and other items in the Saint-Denis neighborhood. Two individuals, aged 30 and 40, under surveillance for weeks, were arrested in connection with the findings.
