Armed police swiftly responded to a disturbing incident at the former Howe Barracks site in Canterbury, Kent, where a man armed with a knife reportedly targeted children playing in the street. Terrified locals raised the alarm, prompting around 15 police vehicles to converge on the military base.

Witnesses recounted a harrowing scene where a man, armed with a knife, drove recklessly up and down the street. He allegedly engaged in an altercation with another man before menacingly driving his Honda Civic directly at a group of approximately 20 children. The children, in panic, scattered and screamed as the vehicle hurtled towards them.

Describing the chaotic scene, a witness shared, “It’s scary to see loads of people trying to stop him. I’ve never seen so many people help protect their children.” Another woman reported a confrontation between two men, during which one threatened to stab the other with a kitchen knife. The aggressor, after a brief scuffle, sped off but returned, driving rapidly and attempting to run down the man and those around him, including children.

While no injuries have been reported, some vehicles were damaged during the incident. The police response was extensive, involving the deployment of a helicopter as the knifeman fled, reportedly crushing a child’s bicycle.

This unsettling event unfolded just a day after a terror attack in north London, where a white van targeted Muslims leaving prayers at a mosque in Finsbury Park. The incident in Canterbury adds to a series of recent terrorist attacks in the UK, further heightening concerns about public safety.
