A man originally from Eritrea faces charges of rape and is now in custody as police investigate the disturbing incident. The victim, an elderly woman residing in a nursing home, had to undergo medical treatment after the assault, which occurred while she was visiting her sister’s grave in the town of Iddenbueren.
The attack was reported when a witness heard the woman crying out for help and promptly alerted the police. The victim was released from the hospital on Tuesday, and the accused, a black African individual who arrived in Germany in 2013, resided in a refugee shelter just 15 minutes away from the scene of the crime in Horstel.
As the investigation unfolds, the man faces serious charges of rape, and if found guilty, he could potentially be sentenced to a maximum of 15 years behind bars. The incident has once again brought attention to the challenges and concerns surrounding refugee populations, emphasizing the need for thorough screening and monitoring in such communities to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents.
