The problem, and what destroyed my family’s reputation, is that I am a homosexual with AIDS. My father lost respect at work and eventually resigned his job. My mother committed suicide when she heard of my diagnosis. She blamed herself for whipping me too much and driving me “queer.”
As if my mother’s suicide wasn’t enough, not they are executing gays in Africa! OMG! Remind me never to go there. I live in Houston and hang out in the Montrose district. I live in a government subsidized group home for HIV+ patients who are on government support and free medication.
I am a Christian. I was saved while watching a televangelist on television. I am disfigured. My face looks like a blowfish, from the antiviral drugs. I am ashamed to show my face in public. My message to ALL persecuted gays in Africa: Come to Houston. Come to Montrose. Take PRIDE in who you are.
