Capitalism is not the problem, statism is the problem, as the Pope surely knows as he is an avowed globalist himself. Capitalism allowed the poor to become rich prior to 1900 in America when there were no income taxes. Today, governments tax away the savings that would otherwise help the middle class become wealthy through investment in private enterprise. In exchange for taxes, a tiny subsistence payment is made to the elderly, something they would not need if they had not been taxed so heavily during their working years.

The problem is greed in government, not capitalism, because it wasn’t capitalism that necessitates a tax on income or wealth. Governments produce nothing of value while consuming half the income of the people.
