Another way to view it is that if the US had resisted the urge to create kinetic space weapons, then guys like Zhirinovsky would have nothing to support his conspiracy theory.

Fortunately, enough meteorite material is on the ground to disprove Zhirinovsky’s claim this time.

Next time, Russian Command may launch their missiles if ordered. And that is the danger of maintaining space-based kinetic weapons – one mistake and the earth goes back to the Stone Age.
