It is too soon to call it a “Cold War” because the competition between Russia and the U.S. is mostly economic rather than political. Russia does not seek to expand its form of government over other countries, unlike the U.S. today.

The effort to promote Russian influence on American politics appears to be minimal today, while U.S. influence on Russian politics is the result of strenuous effort on the American side.

50 years ago, the positions were reversed.

Soviet influence pushing hard into American government and public schools and universities, produced the result that a majority of modern U.S. political leaders have Marxist views and promote legislation to institute government socialism across America.

Russia today has to contend with the clone of the Soviet Union that it helped to create. One cannot avoid noticing the irony.

Why is it that Russia is sending bombers toward the US? Why is Russia building new classes of mobile ICBMs, such as the Topal M? Why does it seem that their entire foreign policy is to do anything that goes counter to the US? They are totally focused on the US, just as in the Cold War days.
