Any claims against the property of Nazi officials should have been made promptly after the war, not 70 years later. Today’s tax money for compensation comes from people who did not even exist during the war.

Former Soviet republics fought the Nazis government and their debt to victims, if any, was paid in full by the blood of their soldiers lost in that war.

If one believes in personal responsibility for wrongdoing, then it is wrong to make everyone pay for the crimes of a few. In fact, that is exactly what Nazis did – if a prisoner escaped, the other prisoners would be punished. That is called “group punishment” and it lacks every aspect of fairness expected of a modern society.
