You are right – it is generally agree upon that it did happen that way and not really planned at all… the Nazis loved to hate the Jews and use
them as Scapegoats but they did not really want to kill them, ideally they wanted to chase them off
to France, the US and Britain and earn a lot

So the Germans have paper records that the holocaust happened, miles of files, but a better question is why it happened, and there are all kinds of reasons given – Germany lacked food to feed them so prisoners died of starvation and disease in prison and their bodies were cremated, etc.
