A Frenchwoman who wears an Islamic face veil, in defiance of the nationwide ban implemented since April, is aiming to run for president in the upcoming elections next year. Kenza Drider is part of a group of women challenging the law, asserting that it violates fundamental rights, and seeking to defend the rights of all French women.
The controversial law banning Muslim face veils on the streets of France has been a subject of heated debate. Supporters, including President Nicolas Sarkozy, argue that the veils symbolize oppression and imprisonment of women, while opponents view the ban as an infringement on personal freedom and religious expression.
Kenza Drider, along with other women challenging the ban, aims to bring attention to what they perceive as a violation of fundamental rights. The act of running for president while wearing the face veil serves as a form of protest against the ban and a way to advocate for the rights of women who choose to wear it.
Ms. Drider plans to declare her candidacy in Meaux, a city east of Paris, where the local government, led by Jean-Francois Cope, a prominent conservative politician and ally of President Sarkozy, strongly supported the implementation of the veil ban.
The timing of Ms. Drider’s candidacy declaration coincides with the trial of two other women who were stopped for wearing veils, highlighting the ongoing legal and societal challenges surrounding the ban.
The upcoming presidential elections in France are likely to see heightened discussions on issues related to identity, secularism, and individual freedoms, with candidates and voters grappling with differing perspectives on the role of religion and personal expression in public life.

i cant believe how racist are you people!! So what she’s a muslim? how come women get arrested for carrying out their religion? it should never be wrong for them to wear their veils let alone BANNED! Go understand Islam then talk! Illiterates!
See that is the problem with allowing Muslims in a country. If I was to go to another country, I would do my best to respect their way of life. And if I didn’t like it, I would leave. Muslims don’t want to intergrate they want to change every country to fit them. I DON’T WANT TO WEAR A BURKA, I DON’T WANT SHARIA LAW !!!!! They should be welcomed only as long as they can respect our customs. They need to be deported.
I see no Frenchwoman.
Oh the Irony.
First she abuses a country that welcomes her by forcing her values on it, rather than integrating.
Then she runs for President, something she would be prohibited from doing so in those countries where she’s forced to wear the ninja outfit.
To say she has no shame doesn’t really even begin to cover it, does it?
Zut alors! How arrogant. It’s not your country lady.
