The better idea is to prevent invasion and occupation by a set of measures that will cause much more damage to the (home country of the) invaders / occupiers than they can ever gain by occupation.

With the increasingly dire conditions for human life (climate change, resource depletion, global pollution like from inferior US-designed nuclear reactors etc.) it is necessary to combine efforts for mitigation of – and adaptation to these threats, instead of wasting resources on more idiotic and costly military “investments” and adventures.

That the US invests more than the rest of the world combined, in its death & destruction corporations, has a simple reason: The US never planned to pay back its increasing debt, but to make it a nonissue instead, by the attainment of global hegemony.
