What a joke. Sure, A.I. is an interesting field, but its “power” is limited by the people who program it. This Matrix-style end-of-the-world crap is a stupid impossibility. No wonder governments are so fucked up if they are getting reports like that. It’s the people that need to “wake up” and use some common sense.

The most likely scenario would be that it would continue to work as if still under the control of it’s creator’s /masters while at the same time maneuvering them.

For an interesting connection to a real world double check: Why would the hacking group ‘anonymous’ suddenly break it’s rank and file to get involved in politics in Wisconsin, but not for the politics, no. The statement put forth by the anon “group” is that they are getting involved because ‘the bill proposes to sell the power production facilities to private parties’.
Seems to me that an A.I. would be very interested in power plants

Probably the “singularity” would know that if the world tumbles into crisis, the Internet is in grave danger, and thus the alleged “body” of the “singularity”.
So if this thing really existed and were intelligent, it would, on the contrary, support the US in any way possible towards world domination, then take over.

If it thinks otherwise, it is not nearly as intelligent as Sun Tzu.

There are two ways of conquering:

1. Make all your enemies destroy themselves, then take control of what’s left. Major disadvantage: a lot of stuff will be destroyed.

2. Support one enemy to destroy all others, then take control of that enemy. Major advantage: works even if you don’t have any military forces yourself. (Think about all conspiracy theories you’ve ever heard of – none of these alleged conspirators has any numbers to take over the world by force when it’s weakened.)

Sounds like Terminator and Matrix. No wonder why Russia has problems when they get crazy reports like this.
