Why has a conversation been going on about God when the problem is future food supply? God has not thrown food down from the sky in 2,000 years, and even before that it was probably a myth. Anyone can learn to grow food, on the other hand. Much more reliable than waiting for God to help. Look up organic gardening or permaculture and learn to help yourself folks.

Sedition and civil war spread throughout Judea; Italy was also thrown into civil war by the contests between Otho and Vitellius for the crown.

And there shall be famines – There was a famine foretold by Agabus Acts 11:28, which is mentioned by Tacitus, Suetonius, and Eusebius, and which was so severe in Jerusalem, Josephus says, that many people perished for want of food, Antiq. xx. 2. Four times in the reign of Claudius (41-54 a.d.) famine prevailed in Rome, Palestine, and Greece.

Pestilences – Raging epidemic diseases; the plague, sweeping off multitudes of people at once. It is commonly the attendant of famine, and often produced by it. A pestilence is recorded as raging in Babylonia, 40 a.d. (Josephus, Antiq. xviii. 9. 8); in Italy, 66 a.d. (Tacitus 16. 13). Both of these took place before the destruction of Jerusalem.

Earthquakes – In prophetic language, earthquakes sometimes mean political commotions. Literally, they are tremors or shakings of the earth, often shaking cities and towns to ruin. The earth opens, and houses and people sink indiscriminately to destruction. Many of these are mentioned as preceding the destruction of Jerusalem. Tacitus mentions one in the reign of Claudius, at Rome, and says that in the reign of Nero the cities of Laodicea, Hierapolis, and Colosse were overthrown, and the celebrated Pompeii was overwhelmed and almost destroyed by an earthquake, Annales, 15. 22. Others are mentioned as occurring at Smyrna, Miletus, Chios, and Samos. Luke adds, “And fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven,” Luke 21:11. Josephus, who had probably never heard of this prophecy, and who certainly would have done nothing designedly to show its fulfillment, records the prodigies and signs which He says preceded the destruction of the city.

A star, says he, resembling a sword, stood over the city, and a comet that continued a whole year. At the feast of unleavened bread, during the night, a bright light shone round the altar and the temple, so that it seemed to be bright day, for half an hour. The eastern gate of the temple, of solid brass, fastened with strong bolts and bars, and which had been shut with difficulty by twenty men, opened in the night of its own accord. A few days after that feast, He says, “Before sunsetting, chariots and troops of soldiers in their armor were seen running about among the clouds, and surrounding of cities.” A great noise, as of the sound of a multitude, was heard in the temple, saying, “Let us remove hence.” Four years before the war began, Jesus, the son of Ananus, a plebeian and a husbandman, came to the feast of the tabernacles when the city was in peace and prosperity, and began to cry aloud, “A voice from the east, a voice from the west, a voice from the four winds, a voice against Jerusalem and the holy house, a voice against the bridegroom and the brides, and a voice against this whole people!” He was scourged, and at every stroke of the whip He cried, “Woe, woe to Jerusalem!” This cry, Josephus says, was continued every day for more than seven years, until He was killed in the siege of the city, exclaiming, “Woe, woe to myself also!” – Jewish Wars, b. 6 chapter 9, section 3.

These things were fulfilled in 1st century Judea.

As for the gift of healing, only the 12 apostles had this gift as a sign they were authorized by Jesus himself. Ever notice that those who profess to have been miraculously healed have no outward healing…it s always ‘inside.’ God is not in these hidden healings as he always is manifested openly and visibly. Go down to the local emergency room the next time a faith healer comes to town and see what the results of chicanery is….It is very visible.

Education is looking at both sides of the story, which unfortunately is what people who believe in god do not do. Religion is a convenient way for your crazy government to do what they want and blame it on God, I’m sure they laugh at you believing in such crap. Because they certainly don’t believe in it themselves, google “Bohemian Grove” an educated person is someone who can take something they believe in and question it, and look at both sides. Google “the oldest person ever found”, that throws you’re Adam and eve story out the window. Adam and eve had one son, you can’t make a population with one person. Luckily here in the UK we think people are bit weird who go to church, like they are not really clever enough to make a sound judgement. Muslims have their religion here but as far as Christianity goes. We find your evajelical TV hilarious and you all look like weirdo’s. dear friend, GOD doesn’t hate you at all. in fact he loves you. Please if you have a chance, read the bible and you might begin to understand. trust in him instead of yourself and he will take care of you, in this world as well as the next.that is the truth. I know you must hate religion Mr. “Call me educated.” Mankind has used it to control the masses for centuries. Science has brought breakthroughs on how we understand the universe and how it works but there is still a lot that is not understood. Even in evolutionary theory, there are gaps that leave scientists baffled. To completely come out and say there is no god, or creator, and eliminate that possibility because of blind hatred of religion is the opposite of “educated.” Sure, the bible is 13 stories from so-called prophets, at least one of which author may have had schizophrenia. Other stories may have been the perceptions of man from current times to explain unknown events, as in Greek mythology. One thing if for certain though, Jesus existed and really knew how to love, be fair, and forgive people when they made mistakes. Kind of like the perfect understanding of the human being and his nature. This individual, who had such a brilliant mind and nature, was called the son of god because he had a logical answer for everyones questions at that time and performed some unimaginable feats. So, if you discard the bible as rubbish and only listen to the words Jesus spoke, you would find it the most loving, caring, and humane way of life. Overall, all he said you had to do is believe through faith and try to be a good person to live forever. It could be as simple as living forever through your children for all you know, not necessarily living in the clouds in paradise. Now look at Buddha because he had some good ideologies. He left his family, womanized, and traveled the land leeching off of everyone’s efforts. Was he a great man? No, more like a televangelist with some good ideas to get a following. If you read history, Buddha was not really a nice person. You have to admit, Jesus did and said some really special things around that time and always practiced what he preached. If the people didn’t love him so much for what he did, you really wouldn’t know about him would he. He even knew what was good for people to eat, years ahead of scientific proof.
In the end you are going to believe what you will. But at least cut some of that hatred away because all religion is not all that bad. You don’t have to believe but just try to be a good person in life. Your hatred will eat you alive.
