OK, so why do you need “permission” to use a public square to present a point of view? Whatever “law” the local idiots had passed requiring “permission” but be openly repudiated, along with finding those folks who pushed and approved it… and scolding them harshly in some public manner. (In old days they’d be put in stocks in public square so folks could jeer at them.)
