Investigators opened a criminal case on Sunday in connection with an armed attack on a police patrol car on Saturday in the Primorie territory, which resulted in one of the two traffic police officers sent to the hospital with a critical wound. The second one was not injured, the representative of the regional police department told RIA News.
“An armed attack on a police vehicle with two officers took place on May 29 in the afternoon, on the road through the taiga in Jaroslavkiy area. One of the policemen was injured and hospitalized, the other one was not injured,” – the representative said.
According to him, the criminal case was opened under the article 317 (attempt to harm the life of a police officer), which means 12 to 20 years sentence if proven guilty.
“Investigators believe there were three gunmen. Upon the conclusion of experts, they fired on the vehicle from one assault rifle and two hunting rifles. Patrol police car riddled with bullets. It was pure luck the bullets did not hit the gas tank,” – said the representative of the local UVD.
He noted that an armed police group with a dog was sent to hunt the attackers. The dog took the trail near the river but lost it because the attackers, apparently, went wading in the water. The search continues.
