A woman who was supposed to be watching a local family’s children now finds herself in jail, charged with abusing one of the children.
Police are not releasing the names of anyone in the victim’s family for their protection.
Jeannine Campbell, 53, had worked for the family for more than two years, according to a police report, and noticed that one of their children had a black eye a few weeks ago.
They installed a hidden camera to see what was going on while they were away.
After watching several videos, they decided to fire Campbell, which they did Tuesday afternoon. They also watched the video from that day, which led to Campbell’s arrest.
A Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office report described her demeanor throughout the video as “very angry” and said it was “obvious she was abusing the child and not playing with him.”
Over a period of about an hour, the video showed Campbell slinging the child into his playpen, the report said.
Then, she threw a bouncy ball at him from close range twice; one of the impacts knocked the child over onto his back. According to police, the video showed her throwing a towel at the child, but missing; then she slapped him, knocking him down again.
After that, the video shows her getting angry with the child while she was putting his socks on. She swatted him 11 times and kicked him, knocking him on his back again, a police report said.
When police questioned Campbell about it, the report said she told the officer she knows it looks bad, and explained she was mad at the family and took it out on the child.
Campbell also said she had a headache, but understood that there were no excuses for what she did. She said while she had spanked the children before, that was the only instance of abuse.
Campbell was charged with battery on a child.

Horray for the hidden camera-no child should endure cruelty or abuse by any nanny or caregiver. Parents should all use a babysitter hidden camera to ensure their child is getting the care they expect and not this!!
In this situation I WOULD BE the one in jail… for kidnapping the baby sitter and beating her so bad I would probably get some kind of torture charge. If this was my kid, absolutely no quarrels with beating a woman’s face into mush with a fishing bat.
People who afford hireing a baby sitter will allways keep doing that to make money and to keep some people below their children economically forever.
No, they actually dont care about their children.
You cant get to their class even by finding treasures any more as has been proven by one treasure that lately went to Spain goverment.
Or how come you cant take care of your baby and both of you just have to go to work to live and babysitters children still live.
Well more slavery coming as now you can try with cameras or so… or will we ever have time to get there.
Yes child abusers should be executed when they go this way.
Yes some breeders are child abusers by default.. :) :)
I would hurt this evil creature so bad she would never walk or talk again. No doubt about it.
