Pawel in the Warsaw synagogue

When Pawel looks into the mirror, he can still sometimes see a neo-Nazi skinhead staring back, the man he was before he covered his shaved head with a skullcap, traded his fascist ideology for the Torah and renounced violence and hatred in favor of God.

“I still struggle every day to discard my past ideas,” said Pawel, a 33-year-old ultra-Orthodox Jew and former truck driver, noting with little irony that he had to stop hating Jews in order to become one. “When I look at an old picture of myself as a skinhead, I feel ashamed. Every day I try and do teshuvah,” he said, using the Hebrew word for repentance. “Every minute of every day. There is a lot to make up for.”

Pawel, who also uses his Hebrew name Pinchas, asked that his last name not be used for fear that his old neo-Nazi friends could harm him or his family.

“Oy vey, I hate to admit it, but we would beat up local Jewish and Arab kids and homeless people,” Pawel said on a recent day from the Nozyk Synagogue here. “We sang about stupid stuff like Satan and killing people. We believed that Poland should only be for Poles.”

Skinheads singing about Satan and killing people? Beating up homeless people? The guy who is Jewish just happens to marry a Jewess who was also a “skinhead”? Come on. Who actually believes this stuff? Does he have a book deal yet?

Just think about this part: “Two WP skinheads marry each other, and both of them discover that they are actually Jews.” This story is a hoax! It sounds too incredible to be true.  But probably, he never was even a skinhead to begin with. Or if he was, he was just an agent provocateur.

    • Richie a man who can not doubt and believes everything he is told, is a stupid man.
Now what if I told you that I’ve been a Zionist Jew and I used to kill Palestinian children for their organs, rape Palestinian women then kill them but now I changed, now I’m a good man converted to Christianity?

      Would you believe that?

  4. Well, what do you expect of the Times, this story is as ridiculous as it is fake. Nationalism is for one strongly against satanism and second you cant be a white nationalist if you are jewish…

    • Well, actually, I know the guy and it’s not fake :-)
Eastern Europe is a weird place. You do find here odd contradictions like neo-Nazis singing bout Satan ;-)

but – being more serious – I think he meant it in a metaphorical sense. He’s an ultra-orthodox Jew now. I think he meant his life back than was “satanist” not in the meaning of “Satan’s church” but in the meaning of the values that he stood for were completely against what he is doing now, when being an orthodox Jew.
