err…SUPPOSED holocaust survivor. I know ALL Jews are holocaust survivors but one of the many ironic feats in Elie Weasels story is that, as Auschwitz was about to be “liberated” by the Russians, the Germans gave the prisoners the choice either to wait for the “liberators” or to flee with them.
