To my Greek fellows: Once you were the super power of the world. Your ancestors were the brightest people on earth who lead humanity when the whole world was living in dark. You were the smartest race on earth. Good and bad times come in the history of nations. But no one can deny the fact that your nation is capable to do wonders (you have proved yourself and many of today’s inventions were not possible without your contributions).

Ordinary people should not be blamed for the sins of their governments. Your govt. has done bad decisions and now ordinary Greeks are suffering. Same thing happened to these Pakistanis………policies of their govt. has let them down. Many Greeks are working in other countries and still leaving their beloved country to help their families.

In Pakistan we have over three Million Afghanis immigrants who find Pakistan better place than their native land.

The cycle goes on……….the fact is no one likes to leave their place of birth unless he/ she is forced by economic, political or religious reasons etc.
Please treat fellow humans nice where ever you are. Who knows one day you have to leave your country and expect better treatment from your hosts.

If humanitarian aid (in whatever form this could be)is bullshit and crap for you, I am sorry but it is not for me. You and me are sitting comfortably in front of our computer screens discussing and looking at the problem theoretically but they feel it, they live and experience it every day. They have no support and most of them, unlike us, have lived in absolute poverty and under dictatorial regimes. That’s why I understand where they are coming from. Do you believe that they got up a beautiful morning and said ‘OK, let’s go to Greece!’? Well, they did not and if they had the chance to go to rich Scandinavian countries they would. Greece happens to be the gate of Europe due to its geographical position. So, they are trapped here. Some of them establish small businesses and some live on washing the cars’ windscreens at the traffic lights. Some others are involved in illegal acts and they are the ones that should be deported. I do not believe in massive deportation. If the words ‘human beings in extreme trouble’ mean nothing to you I am sorry for you. Are you so sure that you will never be in extreme need, that your life will go on normally with just minor ordinary problems that we all face every day? Have you ever thought that life is too short to be so indifferent and cruel saying ‘I don’t care about them queuing for hours’ or ‘there should be massive deportation’? Yes, this is a huge political and social issue but it cannot be treated without any feelings involved just because we are talking about people and not pieces of furniture. Further, you did not read my post well. I said that overpopulation is definitely one of the biggest problems. Pakistani population will soon reach 200 million. But how can you explain this to totally uneducated and poor people who only care about their daily bread? Can Pakistan with its corrupt systems, non existent social services, uncountable problems such as terrorism, floods etc. do something about it? I am afraid not. The aid must come from abroad but great powers could not care less, unless their interests are involved. Of course it not Greece’s fault that so many foreigners come here and try to find a place in the sun. Of course it is not our obligation to support them all especially given the fact that we are a small country in financial crisis. Of course problems are caused in trerms of salaries in some sectors due to affluent cheap labour force. However, the problem of immigration as I already said requires cooperation between many coutries (Turkey included)and cannot be solved by Greek laws alone. As long as dictatorships terrorism, poverty, unemployment, corruption and misery reign in the so call developing world the influx of immigrants will not stop. Countries like Turkey and Lybia must respect their signatures and fulfill their obligations.If you massively deport, you make them more miserable than they already are and since there is no alternative they will find a way to come back again. A solution would be modification of EU laws to allow those who would like to leave to reach their final destination, something that is not done today. For those who would like to stay here integration to Greek society would be a good step. There are jobs that Greeks are not interested in, especially in agriculture. Whatever step our government takes must be done with respect to human rights.
